2006 Advances in Veterinary Medicine Day

Poster Winners

Dr. Laura Rush from the Department of Veterinary Biosciences planned and chaired this year's Advances in Veterinary Medicine Day on April 13, 2006. This event is designed to highlight research and scholarship being performed by College faculty and students. It is also a way for the College community to come together and learn about the exciting research being carried out by colleagues. 86 posters were displayed in Sisson Hall and in the Hummel Grand Lounge in the Veterinary Medicine Academic Building. Graduate and veterinary student poster presentations were evaluated by 28 faculty judges.

The keynote address "Genetic Mapping of Complex Traits in the Domestic Dog" was given by Elaine Ostrander, PhD. Dr. Ostrander is Chief of the Cancer Genetics Branch and heads the Section of Comparative Genetics at the National Human Genome Research Institute of NIH.

Thirteen $600 travel awards were awarded to the following students to be used to support their travel to national and international scientific meetings to present their research.
