Dr. Alicia Bertone’s research group is conducting several orthopedic studies to help horses heal faster after surgery and in their recovery from injuries. Her group is also part of the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cell-Based Therapies along with Drs. Christopher Adin and Matthew Allen, also in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. Current research being conducted was featured in the Sunday, November 18 Columbus Dispatch. In the spring of 2013, Dr. Bertone was invited by the NIH to serve as a member of the Comparative Medicine Special Emphasis Panel to review comparative and translational training grants, which focus on providing researchers with important skills and knowledge that move research discoveries from the lab to treatment protocols more quickly.
