Lameness, reproduction, imaging, medicine and emergency management
Multi-veterinarian ambulatory equine practice attending to large & small breeding farms, primarily thoroughbred, in central Ky. Work includes lameness, reproduction, imaging, medicine and emergency management. Our practice also attends to farms with sport horses involved in all disciplines. The racetrack portion if the practice includes Keeneland Race Course and training center routine work.
10 veterinarians including 1 full time and 2 part time boarded surgeons and 1 boarded in internal medicine and critical care.
EVE & AVMA journals, AAEP proceedings, AAEP Convention on DVD, 2012 books on lameness, ophthalmology, parasitology, reproduction, surgery,& medicine. Informal daily rounds, attend all KVMA and University of KY lectures for equine practitioners, computer access also available
Most of their time is observation and anywhere from passive participation to intense/active participation depending on the case involved.
12-14 hours per day, 7 days per week
