Dr. Bruce Hull, professor emeritus of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, is the recipient of the 2017 American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) Foundation Legends Award for his dedication and contributions to the field of veterinary surgery. The ACVS Foundation Legends Award recognizes ACVS Diplomates who have developed a surgical or diagnostic procedure of significant value, proven by becoming the treatment or test of choice for a given condition.
Dr. Hull developed a career-long premier food animal surgery program at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) until he retired in 2005. He is internationally known for his expertise and dedication to advancing surgery, training veterinary students and helping clients and animals. He was a pioneering surgeon in the development of many commonly performed procedures still done today.
Dr. Hull received numerous teaching awards in his years at the CVM, including the Outstanding Teacher of the Year, as well as association awards, such as the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) Alpharma Award of Excellence for consistently and directly influencing veterinarians in bovine practice.
