Dr. Greg Habing, Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, and his interdisciplinary team received complementary research grants from the USDA for four years totaling $1.2 million and the CDC for one year totaling $150,000 to use educational interventions to improve farm antimicrobial stewardship in dairy and calf production systems. The team will work collaboratively with the University of California-Davis to estimate the potential for reduction in antimicrobial treatments through more accurate disease diagnosis and develop farmer-directed educational materials focused on more stringent antimicrobial use.
