The use of physical therapy to assist recovery is now well-accepted practice in human medicine and surgery. More recently, great strides have been made in identifying similar methods to help our veterinary patients. The therapy targets restoration of physical function; for example, the abiltiy to walk in a previously paralyzed patient. Physical rehabilitation involves numerous techniques including manipulation, electrotherapy (therpeutic laser, ultrasound and electrical stimulation) and exercise. Physical rehabilitation can promote a more rapid recovery from neurological or orthopedic disorders and surgery, helping to avoid complications associated with prolonged bed rest. In otherwise healthy patients, this therapy can improve or maintain strength, stamina and body condition.

The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (OSU-CVM) Antimicrobial Stewardship Program is designed to help clinicians and students by providing them with actionable steps to confidently make judicious antimicrobial use decisions while providing the best care for their patients. Some of our services include the creation and maintenance of comprehensive antimicrobial use guidelines, providing ASP consultation with clinicians for complex infectious disease cases and active environmental surveillance for monitoring of targeted resistant bacteria in the hospital environment.
Our pharmacy fills prescriptions for clients of the medical center. We fill inpatient and outpatient orders for all companion (small), farm and equine animal patients of the hospital. Unfortunately, we are legally unable to fill prescriptions from veterinarians outside of the veterinary medical center. We offer compounding services for several oral and topical medications. We can process refill requests usually within 48 hours. Compounded medications can take longer depending on the product. If no refills remain on the prescription, we can contact the veterinarian for additional refills if warranted. Please allow up to 48 hours for refill authorization.
