Research Interests

  • Echocardiography
  • Hemodynamics
  • Cardiovascular Clinical Pharmacology
  • Comparative Cardiology
  • Animal Models of Human Diseases

Research Summary

  • My main interest involves the use of echocardiography and Doppler studies to assess and quantify cardiovascular function noninvasively. I work with both spontaneous diseases of animals and in models of animal and human disease. We use these methods to evaluate a range of subjects from horses, cattle and camelids, to dogs and cats, to rabbits, rats, and mice. Integral to some of these studies are direct measurements of hemodynamics and cardiac function by cardiac catheterization.
  • A secondary interest involves studies of cardiac drugs in patients or in pre-clinical trials.
  • I also consult with a number of investigators here and in the Davis Heart & Lung Institute at the Medical School regarding application of echocardiography to their research studies.
